The Action
Our working model in each city will be to work for one day respectively, each in a primary school, a high school and a university. In each country we will work with UNESCO Project –schools and the national coordinators, e.g. with the "Hansagymnasium" in Cologne and with the UNESCO Project-school "Berta von Süttern Schule" in Vienna which is based on an old ship on the Danube. In addition our partner NGOs there will arrange dates with other schools.

Each of the other days in the week will be planned in co-operation with local partner NGOs and we will be taking the globe and Diana through the streets to places and squares etc. rolling to meet young people along these rivers in many different situations. A main visual element will be an Earth ball: a 2 meter rubber globe filled with air showing all of the continents, seas etc. Around the globe is a removable outer nylon cover on which people will record (write or draw) their ideas with waterproof pens

The actors will open the informative, carefully planned discussions and young people will be encouraged firstly to think about the theme of water in their daily lives. e.g. how much they use, how much they really need, where it comes from, how they can conserve and preserve it through their own daily actions. At this point they will meet Diana, who is a fibre glass model of a drop of clean healthy water, about to drop on to the Water Wagon and into it’s water system. With the Water Wagon and into it's water system. With the Water Wagon (complete with a hand pump to draw water from the earth just as many people in southern countries must do) especially young people can explore and learn about a common water system through interactive "play". Next, participants will be guided to the video programme installed on the wagon, which shows vividly many different daily problems that people in southern countries must deal with in getting a clean and adequate water supply. One of our actors is from a southern country and will speak from his personal experiences and knowledge.

Participants will then be encouraged to write "I can/will..." sentences on the globe cover of actual steps they can take in the preservation/ improvement of their water supply, and of direct and indirect actions they can take in the improvement of water supply situations in southern countries. Each city will have a new cover on the Earth ball and the covers from the other cities can be inflated separately and displayed in each city, giving an exchange of ideas. This globe will be the rolling data bank of ideas.
