Global Aspects
About two thirds of the earth is covered with water, from which only 0,0003% is useable as drinking water for human consumption. As a consequence it is difficult to see how humanity will survive, with the increasing needs of an ever expanding population.

Experts are saying that in the future, wars will be fought between nations and multinational concerns over water.

To stop the destruction of the life support systems of our planet, of which water is a foundation, will be one of the biggest challenges with which humanity has yet been confronted.

With this back ground it is evident that with a growing world-wide consumption of water, it is urgent that people become more aware of their daily use of it.

Clean water doesn’t "simply" come out of the tap, but in most cases it has had a long journey. The story about the source of water, its collection, treatment and reticulation to households is especially important to show people in a concrete way. At the same time it is important to make it clear the extent to which each individual is responsible for the healthy state of their water supply. How much water does one person use in a day? For what reasons do you need water? How can each of us contribute to protecting our water in every day situations? In such a way we can create a sustainable learning process.

For this we developed "Diana the Droplet" as a healthy, happy droplet of water, who in the interaction with kids and adults must be kept happy and alive. A multi-media water wagon will display a water system in microcosm. In the course of the working processes it will be clear to all participants that Diana represents all water droplets. (drinking water, oceans, lakes etc.)

Most important is the contact with children, who through play, exercises, films etc will be motivated and animated. e.g. ART at WORK has a 2m. globe which is rolled through the streets. On a removable cover participants write their solutions to the question "What can you do to improve the quality of your water system? as well as those in southern countries. The goal is to sensitise people, especially children, to this basic life element which is right before their door in Europe and in other western countries, as well as to have an active discussion about concrete solutions to water related local and daily problems. Above all, ART at WORK has playful methods to get people thinking and moving, empowering themselves to take positive action.
